Wales

Over the weekend, we stayed at a B&B just outside of Cardiff, Wales. The countryside driving from London to Wales is INCREDIBLE! Driving on the wrong side of the road - DANGEROUS! It was days before my heart wouldn't leap when seeing a car on the wrong side of the road.

Conner, a friend of my mom's, played tour guide for some of Wales best castles. First stop was a medieval castle that is most known for its leaning tower.

I'm doing my best to hold the leaning tower up!

This winding staircases were harder to climb than you might think. They also hold more purpose than you might think: In case of invasion, these staircases offer help for defense. When an intruder is coming up the stairs with sword in hand, they are forced to walk on the smaller corners of the steps and their swinging arm is against the wall. The defenders would be on the outer, more wider part of the step with plenty of room to swing their sword.

The second castle, Castell Coch, is the Fairy Tale castle - a very wealthy man (so loaded he would make Trump look like a bum) decided to renovate a medieval castle into the ultimate fairy tale castle. This was my favorite! It reminded me of the movie Enchanted.

The dining room

The drawing room, complete with fairy tale birds flying on the ceiling.

This bedroom belonged to the Lady of the house and was up the stairs from her husband's bedroom - and not by coincidence. The Lord of the house knew exactly who was in his wife's bedroom because he could hear anyone climbing the stairs past his bedroom.

We visited the remains of a castle that has been destroyed but is on lovely property. We drove past the ocean, and went to have drinks with some friends of my mom's. The next day, mom, dad, and I drove through a national park that had some rather beautiful scenery (when we didn't have to concentrate so hard on the road). Our stay in Wales was very quaint.
