Halloween and New's Bop

So I should be writing an essay right now. Oh well.

Yesterday was Halloween, a very exciting time here in Oxford. It seems that here, Halloween is more for the adults than the kids. There is some trick-or-treating, but VERY little. Mostly, it’s parties at houses, bars, or clubs. The evening started with a Halloween party at St. Giles (the biggest OSAP house that tends to have all the parties). Then, we went over to New College for the bop. An Oxford bop is a monthly event that takes place in the college bar and can only be described as a costume party meets disco meets clubbing.

It's so weird to be dancing like you're in a club, but to look around and see the stone archways and circular staircases (don't forget, my college was built in the 1300's).
Sidenote...watching drunk people try to walk up and down those circular staircases is REALLY funny!
Every bop has a theme and people go all out dressing up for them. Being Halloween, the theme yesterday was Your Worst Nightmare. Everyone had to dress up as their biggest fear. There was one guy dressed up as darkness, another a crocodile, and a couple people came as textbooks or papers. One girl came as whole milk and her best friend came as skim milk. Vanessa, my housemate, went dressed up as the ocean because she has a fear of the deep deep sea.

I fear being burned alive, so I dressed up as FIRE!!!

Jaime, Natalie, Vanessa, and I dressed up for Halloween.
Jaime and Natalie didn't go to New's bop so they could dress up however they wanted...Jaime dressed as a vampire and Natalie the Cheshire cat.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
